Wojciech Mazur

Ancient Historian and Tutor in Ancient Greek and Latin

Χαῖρετε πάντες, Salvete omnes, Greetings everyone! I am Wojciech Mazur, a young Classicist/Ancient Historian currently undertaking my PhD at the University of Liverpool, United Kingdom.

I mainly work on Ancient Greek religion, especially in times and places where its gods, ideas and art were in multicultural dialogue with the religions of other peoples, including the Egyptians and Romans. I am interested in how this led to the creation of new pantheons, new ways of relating to the divine and new temples and rituals that engaged all the senses. For more on my research, click here.

I am also a fervent bibliophile when it comes to Classical literature and the stories it tells of gods, heroes and mortal struggles, being a particular admirer of Homer and Herodotus.

Whether ancient or modern, languages fascinate and inspire me to learn and practice them. Since teaching is one great way of practising, I am also a tutor of Ancient Greek and Latin. For more on my tutoring, click here.
